Andy Fielding
My boating career took off at an early age! My first memories are of fishing off the back of my fathers sailing dinghy "Juliet" a GP14 at around about three years old. Previously my fishing exploits had been limited to dry land, at the end of the pier.
Powerboating had been delayed a while as the excitement of watching Father
Christmas arrive at the sailing club by speedboat one christmas eve had caused
me to fall off the previously mentioned pier! Slightly less of a problem as I
was fortunate to have been brought up in the warm sunny climes of Bahrain in
the Arabian Gulf.
Circumnavigation may be in the blood as in 1960 my father and a close friend
became the first to round Bahrain island in a sailing boat. The Island being
only thirty miles long and five wide perhaps a little less of a challenge
than The Round Britain Powerboat Race!!!
In the past few years boating with Jonathan has been full of surprises, mostly
pleasant and I'm sure the 21st of June will be no exception!!!
